The Vision"After Paul had seen the vision, we got ready at once to leave for Macedonia, concluding that God had called us to preach the gospel to them." Acts 16:10 NIV I have been on several mission trips to Mexico over the last few years. It has been my privilege to observe first hand some of the mission work that is being done through friends of mine at the First Baptist Church of Lewisville and members from other churches. One church in Ohio and another in North Carolina have sent bible money, and churches in the Lewisville area have sent their youth on Mexico mission trips to share the Good News of Jesus Christ to those in need.
I have worked with many individuals on these trips that are using their spiritual gifts to reach the lost of Christ. They participate in various ministries like bible distribution, VBS, drama, just to name a few. Ministries are ways to reach people at various locations on both sides of the border of Texas and Coahuila along the Rio Grand river. I want to share with you some of my findings about those trips. Several churches have combined efforts to spread the Gospel through Mexico and US. I have noticed that over time when people move to another location and move their church membership, they take along the desire to continue the mission work that was already started several years ago. I've noticed friends of friends that attend other churches have also given of their time and resources. I seems to me that the group is just continuing the task at hand as recorded in Mathew 28:18-20 NIV: 18 Then Jesus came to them and said, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age." Prayer is a mighty instrument and is greatly needed for Mexico and the US. I believe the success of these outreach ministries is mostly due to those that are willing to spend some time along with God in prayer. James 5:16 NIV says: "The effective prayer of a righteous man can accomplish much." There are specific prayer needs that I would like you to pray about during your quiet time. These can be found under prayer needs. It is my hope that you will find something of interest here that will touch your heart and that you will join us or to stimulate your desire to start a work of your own. I am thankful for the support that has been given from those individuals from those churches and for those who were patient with me on my first trip.
